THE ORGANISATION:

The Port of Cork Company is a commercial, state-owned company with operations at five sites in the Cork region: Cobh, City Quays, Tivoli, Ringaskiddy and Bantry. The Port of Cork is the primary deep-water, multi-modal port servicing the South West region of Ireland and is a vital part of the country’s transport infrastructure.

To support its continued success and the delivery of its ambitious future development plans, the Port of Cork Company is seeking to recruit a Port Engineering Manager.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Port Engineering Manager will be part of the company’s senior management team and will have responsibility for all aspects of engineering within the Port of Cork, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and procedures. In addition to leadership of the Engineering and Maintenance functions, the appointed candidate will play a critical role in achieving the Port of Cork’s Strategic Development Plan and will have responsibility for the organisation’s Engineering Strategy, driven by technical innovation and market trends.

THE PERSON:

This position requires a strategic leader with a proven track record of devising and implementing engineering strategies at a senior level, across a breadth of disciplines. Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant field of engineering, the successful candidate will possess more than 10 years post-graduate experience.

The appointed person will have previously delivered significant engineering projects that successfully addressed a broad range of technical and commercial challenges. A proven track record of leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team is required. Experience in the Marine, Freight, Shipping and Transportation sectors is highly desirable.
