THE ORGANISATION
As Ireland’s leading cancer charity, the Irish Cancer Society works across every area of cancer - from prevention and early detection, through to end-of-life care. The Society makes a positive impact for people affected by cancer every day: investing in lifesaving and life-changing research, providing practical, financial and emotional support and driving improvements in public cancer services. Employing c.400 people nationwide, including c.200 night nurses, the Society is supported by thousands of volunteers in its fundraising activities and the delivery of services. The Society works in every county in Ireland and through Daffodil Centres in 13 hospitals and 21 charity shops nationwide.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as part of the Executive Management Team, the Director of Finance & Corporate Services will be a strategic leader for the Society and a critical support to the Board sub-committees. The Director will lead both the Finance and Legal & Compliance teams, as well as leading, inspiring and empowering the organisation to ensure high-performance, effective governance, compliance and sustainable financial growth to underpin the achievement of the Society’s mission.
THE PERSON
The ideal candidate for this position will be a goal-oriented finance and compliance leader, with strong commercial acumen. They will demonstrate a collaborative approach to leadership, with a high degree of emotional intelligence. Most importantly they will be committed to the Society’s mission and driven to improve the lives of people with cancer. Membership of a recognised professional accountancy body is required, in addition to a primary level degree qualification in a relevant discipline.
