Chief Executive Officer, Construction Industry Federation (CIF)

THE ORGANISATION

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) is the voice of the construction sector in Ireland. It represents 1,350 employers and comprises 33 constituent Associations, representing various sectors of the industry. It operates 13 Branches around the country and provides a wide range of advisory and advocacy services through a team of dedicated professionals. The CIF supports the growth and development of large, small and medium sized construction companies through understanding its members’ challenges and opportunities and responding proactively to their needs. Owing to the imminent retirement of the CIF Director General, the Executive Body of the CIF is now seeking an accomplished individual to serve in the newly created post of Chief Executive Officer, to continue the growth and change that has characterised the CIF in recent years.

THE ROLE

Based in Dublin and reporting to the Executive Body of the CIF, the CEO will provide strategic leadership to the CIF and will ensure that it delivers effectively in all areas of its mandate including, advocacy, representation, Member engagement, operational, financial, and governance matters. As the public face of the CIF, the CEO will have highly developed communication skills and will be capable of engaging with and influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. This is a hands-on role that requires a high level of leadership, relationship management and agility.

THE PERSON

You possess an established record of achievement working at a senior level in government, business, industry, the public sector or in a senior lobbying or advocacy role within an equivalent representative organisation interacting with government. You will possess significant experience in developing, driving and delivering strategic plans. In addition to a relevant third-level qualification, you will have significant knowledge and previous experience of economic, commercial and legislative issues as well as other factors affecting business in Ireland. Demonstrable technical knowledge of the construction sector is an advantage, however not essential.
